How to connect Avalanche Network to MetaMask? This article will introduce a step-by-step guide to connect Avalanche Network to MetaMask.

MetaMask and Avalanche Network are the two reputable names in the crypto space. In this tutorial, we will introduce you to MetaMask and Avalanche, and how to add Avalanche to MetaMask.

About Metamask and Avalanche Network

What is MetaMask?

MetaMask, owned by ConsenSys, is a crypto wallet used to interact with the Ethereum blockchain, available for users as a web browser extension and a mobile wallet. As a crypto gateway, MetaMask can be used to connect to other blockchains besides Ethereum.

MetaMask Website:

In November 2021, MetaMask surpassed the 21M Monthly Active Users milestone, making it the most popular Ethereum-based wallet. Later on, in March 2022, it raised $450M in a Series D round, valuing it at $7B.

Notable features of MetaMask:

  • Friendly and easy-to-use UI.
  • Easy to interact with other supported Dapps.
  • An in-app DEX aggregator that allows users to swap ERC20 tokens natively.
  • Data is owned by users who hold the passphrase.

What is Avalanche Network?

Avalanche is a revolutionary blockchain that is created to build and scale decentralized applications (dApps). The project seeks to unseat Ethereum as the most widely utilized smart contract in blockchain ecosystems, with features that include easier access for all users of any level or experience.

Avalanche Website:

Avalanche aims to be a global asset exchange where anyone can launch or trade any form of asset, and control them using smart contracts. The developers have been working hard on cutting-edge technologies to deliver a fast, low transaction fee and scalable network.

The Avalanche blockchain uses AVAX as the native token, serving as the gas fee (the fee you need to pay to the network).

Highlights of the Avalanche Network:

  • Network Architecture: The primary network consists of 3 built-in separate blockchains: (X) Chain, Platform (P) Chain, Contract (C).
  • Subnets: Subnetworks offer a new form of scaling previously untouched by prior blockchain experiments.
  • Snowman Consensus: Snowman is a new consensus protocol that builds on the Avalanche consensus.
  • Speed: Avalanche's transaction processing speed is in seconds.
  • Scalability: Avalanche is capable of handling thousands of transactions per second and can accommodate thousands of validators without sacrificing performance.

Since the Avalanche C-Chain is compatible with Ethereum, it can be connected via MetaMask. Using MetaMask lets users interact with Dapps on Avalanche such as Trader Joe to swap tokens.

Furthermore, Coin98 Super App also supports Avalanche Network. You can create ARC-20 wallets on the Coin98 Super App.

MetaMask's Supported Browsers

This article will introduce how to connect Metamask to Avalanche Network on the web browser, Chrome.

Step 1: Installing MetaMask Wallet

  1. Go to
  2. Click “Install MetaMask for Chome” to download the extension.
  3. Install MetaMask to Chrome and create a MetaMask wallet.
  4. Log in to your MetaMask wallet.
metamask bnb install metamask
Download MetaMask

Your MetaMask will look like this if you successfully log in to MetaMask.

After MetaMask has been installed, you'll see this as the default user interface. Don't forget to store the passphrase someplace safe and secret so that you can recover the wallet if you forget the password.

Note: Passwords and paraphrases should never be shared or revealed to anyone.

Step 2: Connecting Metamask to Avalanche

After logging in, MetaMask will set the Ethereum blockchain as default. To switch to using Avalanche on MetaMask, we will walk you through the following steps.

At the top left corner of the MetaMask interface, select “Ethereum Mainnet” to drop down the menu, then click the “Add Network” button.

Add Network With MetaMask

The web will direct you to the Settings page, where you can add a blockchain network. We will manually add the Avalanche mainnet to MetaMask as we first use MetaMask. We just switch Avalanche to other blockchains at hand in later usage.

Add A Network To MetaMask

Avalanche Network:

  • Network Name: Avalanche Network
  • New RPC URL:
  • ChainID: 43114
  • Symbol: AVAX
  • Block Explorer URL:

Fill in the network details and click Save.

You successfully connect Avalanche to MetaMask. Import your ARC-20 wallet, and now your ARC-20 tokens are displayed.

Step 3: Switching between blockchains on MetaMask

In the previous steps, you are introduced to connecting Avalanche to MetaMask. If you prefer to connect to other blockchains, click “Avalanche Network” as in the picture below to select your network.
