What is Astroport?

Astroport is an AMM on Terra. With the innovation in the AMM model, Astroport is expected to be the liquidity hub for all of the assets on Terra. 

Besides the upgrade in the AMM model, Astroport also offers an attractive feature: dual liquidity mining and an innovative way to leverage the use case of the ASTRO token. 

How does Astroport work?

The innovation in the AMM model: Traditionally, each AMM only offers a certain type of liquidity pool, which is suitable for a limited type of assets. For example, Constant Product Pools are great for highly volatile assets, Stableswap Invariant Pools work well with stable assets while Liquidity Bootstrapping Pools are fit for new tokens. However, Astroport offers all 3 types of liquidity pools to be the ideal exchange platform for any type of asset. 

Dual liquidity mining: People who join liquidity mining on Astroport will earn not only the ASTRO token but also tokens from other projects on Terra. This dual farming is enabled by ASTRO Generators - proxy-based smart contracts. Users just need to deposit their LP tokens into the ASTRO Generator. It will then act on behalf of users to deposit and earn third-party tokens through a staking proxy. 

Leverage ASTRO’s utility: ASTRO’s utility is measured via xASTRO and vxASTRO. People stake ASTRO to receive xASTRO and stake xASTRO to receive vxASTRO.  Therefore, vxASTRO shows a higher level of commitment, which means more benefits in fee-sharing and governance power.
