Overview of LayerZero

LayerZero is a cross-chain infrastructure protocol for a new form of Dapps called Omnichain Dapps (odApps). LayerZero's technology allows developers to easily create odApps, much like developing dApps for single chains like Ethereum or Polygon, while leveraging the aggregation ability across networks.

LayerZero has received investments from large funds, such as FTX Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Coinbase Ventures, PayPal Ventures, etc. Therefore, they might have the ability to conduct a large airdrop for users and distribute to other projects. In addition, a piece of the project code contains information about a strange token called ZRO, which will most likely be the main token of LayerZero.

With the above factors, LayerZero is now one of the main targets that airdrop hunters seek profit from.

Preparations for hunting LayerZero airdrops

Download and install the Coin98 Extension Wallet

First, you need to download and install the Coin98 Extension Wallet via chrome.coin98.com

The full guide to installing the extension can be found here.

After installing the extension, you need to create wallets on Optimism, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Aptos, etc. to use the bridges.

Seek airdrops from other projects concurrently

Some projects mentioned in this article can be done concurrently with other airdrops, such as the Optimism Quest by interacting with Stargate, or with Arbitrum through Layer3 and Guild.xyz, etc.

Therefore, it is recommended to complete the basic steps and activate the tasks to save time and money.

How to hunt for LayerZero airdrops

Bridge on Stargate

Bridging on Stargate is the first mission on Optimism Quest, so you can join both airdrops at once. Use the bridge to transfer at least 100 USDC, with Optimism being either the sending or the receiving chain.

Step 1: Go to Stargate’s homepage and connect the wallet on the receiving chain.

Step 2: Select USDC as the transferring asset, at least 101 USDC to qualify for Optimism Quest.

Step 3: Click Approve. The transaction will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

Stake and vote on Stargate

To stake and vote on the Stargate community, you need to own a certain amount of STG (approximately $20 in value). STG can be bought on CEXs or DEXs such as Uniswap, Slingshot, etc.

Staking is done as follows:

Step 1: Go to the Stake section on Stargate and connect with the wallet that contains your STG tokens.

Step 2: Insert the amount of STG and the lock up duration, between 1 and 35 months. The longer the lock up duration, the higher the voting power (in veSTG).

Step 3: Double check the transaction information, then click Create Stake.

After staking, you’ll be redirected to the Your Stake section. The system will display your staked amount and voting power. Click Vote on Snapshot.

Step 4: Click Join to enter the Stargate DAO.

Don’t forget to pay attention to the event duration to vote on time, as the duration can be quite short, for only a few days.

Bridge on Liquidswap

Liquidswap is a Pontem Network project built on Aptos using LayerZero’s technology for its bridge. Pontem Network has also received investments from large funds and hasn’t released its token. Therefore, bridging on Liquidswap can be a “killing two birds with one stone” kind of situation.

Step 1: Go to the Bridge section on LiquidSwap and connect the wallet on the receiving network. We’ll take Arbitrum as an example.

Step 2: Select the transferring asset and insert the amount. It is recommended to transfer at least $10 in value.

Step 3: Click Transfer to complete.

Note:

  • Transferring assets from supported EVM blockchains to Aptos only takes a few minutes.
  • Transferring assets from Aptos to supported EVM blockchains may take approximately 3 days.
  • There’s Aptos Bridge for the Aptos network that’s similar to Liquidswap’s bridge. You may choose whichever bridge to use.

Swap on Aries Markets

Aries Markets is also one of LayerZero’s partners that went mainnet on Aptos. Therefore, interacting with this project may increase your chance of receiving an airdrop from LayerZero.

Aries Markets also has the Lending feature, however, we’ll learn how to swap in this article since it’s more newbie friendly.

Step 1: Go to the Swap section on Aries Markets and connect your Aptos wallet.

Step 2: Choose the trading pair and insert the amount. It is recommended to trade with the zUSDC or zUSDT/APT pair.

The system will automatically choose the best liquidity path for the transaction. You may pick other options as preferred.

Step 3: Click Swap to complete.

Other projects using LayerZero’s technology

Aside from the projects above, there are plenty of other projects that use LayerZero’s technology, such as Hashflow, Rage Trade, Angle Protocol, Mugen Finance, Radical Capital, etc.

You can try interacting with these projects to increase your chance of receiving airdrops.

Conclusion

For projects having huge financial ability and planning to release tokens, the chances of receiving airdrops can be quite high. Therefore, it is best to take advantage of being an early contributor for them and earn potential profits.
